Spirituality is a component of personality, an integral part of the structure of personality, “integrating center of motives, attitudes and feelings as well as cognitive orientation, a core of personal identity and the meaning of life” (Pavel Říčan).

The common denominator of various modalities of spirituality is a personal relation to the Sacred – a reality transcending human reality and evoking in us a set of experiences of amazement and awe (mysterium tremendum et fascinans) (Rudolf Otto).

Various modalities of spirituality can be nourished from various sources, both spiritual and secular. Diversity of sources of personal spirituality represents the “signs of the times” of the contemporary society.
